The first match scheduled from the second half of the day at Dharamsala is officially abandoned due to the pouring rain. After a huge test loss of 3-0 against New Zealand, the hosts expected to start fresh with the 3 key players joining in for the 3 ODI series against South Africa.
While there’s a statement of Match Abandoned after a long wait, players and fans step into a bit of disappointment. The expectations from the fans about the home team were enormous. Still it continues as we need some luck to witness the 2nd ODI at Lucknow this Sunday (15 March).
Yet there’s another COVID-19 warning from the sports ministry of India, in interest of the players and public. Mass gatherings should be avoided, said the ministry.
After an intensive discussion in the parliament, the government body including the sports department issued an advisory to conduct the sport without spectators in case there’s no chance of cancellation of the respective game. The confirmation on whether the rest of India Vs South Africa series happens without public is still in thoughts.
The final decision on how the IPL will be conducted (with or without spectators) might be produced as a report from the IPL governing council after the board members discuss this Saturday (14 March). It’s again a wait and watch situation!
