Rajasthan Royals have suffered a setback with fast bowler Sandeep Sharma ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a fractured finger, the franchise confirmed on Thursday (May 1). “He showed immense bravery to continue bowling with this injury in the last match, and everyone at the franchise wishes him a full and speedy recovery,” read a statement from the Royals, reports Live Cricket Score.
The injury occurred during RR’s home clash against Gujarat Titans when Sandeep attempted to stop a straight drive from Shubman Gill off his own bowling. The physio immediately attended to him, but remarkably finished the remaining eight balls of his spell despite the pain.
It’s a tough blow for Rajasthan, still in the playoff hunt. Sandeep had been a regular feature in their pace attack, picking up nine wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 9.89. Akash Madhwal replaced him for the subsequent match against the Mumbai Indians.
The franchise also confirmed that team management is currently finalising a replacement, and an official announcement is expected soon.
