IPL 2025 Player Auction to be Held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
The IPL 2025 Player Auction will take place overseas for the second consecutive year, with Jeddah in Saudi Arabia chosen as the venue. Scheduled for November 24 and 25, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed both the dates and location while revealing that a record 1,574 players have registered for this year’s auction.
Among the 1,574 registrants, 1,165 are Indian players, with the remaining 409 comprising international players, including 30 from Associate nations. South Africa and Australia are leading the international representation, with 91 and 76 registered players, respectively, reports Live Cricket Score.
Clash with India’s Border Gavaskar Trophy Tour
The IPL auction dates coincide with the third and fourth days of the opening Test of India’s tour of Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Test match, set to begin on November 22 in Perth, will overlap with the auction proceedings.
Team Retentions and Auction Dynamics
Following the retentions confirmed on October 31, 204 slots, including 70 for overseas players, are available for the ten franchises. Each team can hold a maximum of 25 players in their squad. Punjab Kings (PBKS), with only two uncapped players retained, enters the auction with the largest purse at INR 110.5 crore. On the other end, Rajasthan Royals (RR), having retained six players—five of whom are capped—has the smallest available purse at INR 41 crore.
