The BCCI stated on Sunday that Navdeep Saini, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Jaydev Unadkat, and Saurabh Kumar had been added to the Indian Test team for the Bangladesh series (December 11).

We reported earlier that the board chose Unadkat and Saurabh to replace the injured combo of Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja. However, in addition to Unadkat and Saurabh, the BCCI has confirmed Saini’s recall to the Indian Test team. The 30-year-old fast bowler hasn’t played for India in almost a year, with his most recent Test outing coming last year in Australia.

Regular skipper Rohit Sharma, a doubtful starter for the Test series after injuring himself in the second ODI, spoke with a doctor in Mumbai and was told to rest. As a result, he will be unavailable for the first Test match, and Easwaran has been recruited. The uncapped opener recently struck a century in both games against Bangladesh A.

The BCCI medical panel will decide on Rohit’s participation in the second Test later. KL Rahul will captain the team in Rohit’s absence, and Cheteshwar Pujara has been selected as vice-captain. Even though Pujara was in the squad the last time India played a Test match (in England earlier this year), Rishabh Pant was selected as vice-captain.
