The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has announced the revival of its IPL-style T20 league for women cricketers, marking a significant step forward for women’s cricket in the state. This decision was made during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Vijayawada on Sunday, June 8, reports Live Cricket Score.

Previously, the ACA had launched a three-team women’s competition known as the Andhra Women’s T20 League, which was eventually discontinued. Now, the association plans to scale up the league to feature four teams, operating independently of the six-team Andhra Premier League for men.

Looking ahead, the ACA intends to host both the men’s and women’s leagues concurrently at a single venue, beginning this August. While the ACA will initially manage the women’s competition, the long-term goal is to transition the tournament into a franchise-based model.

“This decision underlines the ACA’s strong commitment to promoting women’s cricket in Andhra Pradesh. Our president, Kesineni Sivanath, and secretary, S Satish, are united in their vision to develop the women’s game,” said an ACA official.

Former India captain Mithali Raj, who serves as the convenor of women’s cricket in the state, will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the new league. In the coming days, the ACA is set to establish a dedicated women’s cricket committee, along with an all-women selection panel to oversee team selections and league development.
