IPL: Shardul Thakur traded to Kolkata Knight Riders

Shardul Thakur, an India fast bowling all-rounder, is set to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming Indian Premier League after his former franchise Delhi Capitals traded him for uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan.

Thakur, who was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 10.75 crore, had taken 15 wickets in 14 games in the 2022 edition, including a career-best 4/36, but leaked close to 10 runs per over. He batted 120 times for a 10.81 average and a strike rate of 137.93.

“Shardul Thakur has been traded from the Delhi Capitals to the Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023,” the IPL announced in a statement. “Emerging all-rounder Aman Khan has been traded from Kolkata Knight Riders to Delhi Capitals.”

Aman, 25, made his IPL debut for KKR last season after being purchased for Rs 20 Lakh in the 2022 IPL auction. Thakur is currently in New Zealand for the three-match One-Day International series. Thakur is KKR’s third trade, following the acquisition of Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand and Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan from Titans in an all-cash deal.
