Mehidy Hasan prioritises national duty ahead of county stint

Mehidy Hasan, an all-rounder for Bangladesh, shared on Sunday (May 21) that he is unwilling to forego performing for his country in order to compete for Warwickshire County Club in the One Day Cup, which is set to take place from August 1 to September 16. Jack Lintott, who they shared the pitch with for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the recently finished Dhaka Premier League, the nation’s customary List A competition, made the all-rounder the offer to represent Warwickshire.

Mehedy stated to Live Cricket Score: “Lintott asked me whether I was interested in playing the one-day event for Warwickshire, where he is also participating. I told him that if there was no national obligation, I could go and play a couple of games. My national duty is the most essential thing to me, and I won’t forego it for whatever. The experience of competing in that competition will undoubtedly enhance my experience, so if there is a gap, I will ask NOC from BCB to fill it.”

Afghanistan and Bangladesh will play one test match on June 10. The visitors will then depart for India to play a white-ball series before coming back to complete the remaining three ODIs and two T20Is in the series. The show will continue until July 16. Bangladesh will later take part in the Asia Cup, which will run from the final week of August through the middle of September.
