The former India opener, Gautam Gambhir said KL Rahul has been displaying a wonderful play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Gambhir reveals his opinion on the replacement of MS Dhoni, Rahul can be the right fit in white-ball cricket and the shorter formats.
Recollecting back, MS hasn’t played for any international matches since India has lost the semi-final in the ODI World Cup- July 2019. Both the likely opening batsmen in the present Indian team, Rishabh Pant and Rahul have put their seamless efforts.
As the current India coach Ravi Shastri has been repeatedly saying, it’s IPL 2020 that can be the best platform for a player like Dhoni to come back strongly. Besides, this shorter format can be a wonderful base for the players to look forward to the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled for October-November 2020 in Australia.
While the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the world and most likely, this might rule out the play of IPL this year. So it is unfortunate for such circumstances of dis-allowing such a huge tournament and many players along with Gambhir think there are fewer chances for a tournament to be taking place until the end of June 2020.
